At the launch back at the beginning of 2007 Webica announces plans to publish in Spanish The content management system behind this site has been adopted to support serving up the same content in up to three additional spoken languages
An agreement was reached with Francisco Parras and associates of Alicante University to translate Articles as they are created.

Whilst there are several free translation services on the Web they are not sufficient to rely on. There's no escaping that writing well writtten easy to understand educational technical articles is quite hard. Subsequently translating them into another language and maintaining their educational quality requires feedback on more than how accurate the final translation is.

The technical aspects of translation are quite well known. Having built networks and applications in around a dozen countries some of the issues are familiar to me.
The system behind this site will detect the visiting user’s language settings and serve up the translated apporpriate version of the same article.

Advertising, which pays for this site is another matter yet to be fully realised.
Having detected that the language settings on a users browser are in e.g. Spanish my desire is that Google ads will be served up in Spanish matching the Spanish content.
(Me having fun as a Cyberman at Christmas)
To test is quite simple, without worrying about the translation accuracy let alone the educational quality of an article the test simply involves taking an exising page, translating it via any of the free automated translation services and then seeing if the ads on the translated page appear in e.g in Spanish.

Whilst Google use IP addresses to determine the users country they also use the Language settings ( under the menu Tools - Internet Options - Langauges) you set for your browser.

So one quick test is to set you lanaguage to Spanish, then Search on Googles Spanish site for a page you have previously converted to Spanish and see if Spanish Ads come up.
Generally to increase international business the objective is for Webica to increase its ad revenue stream and serve the Spanish community with a range of high quality content aimed at promoting Web development and Web application development skills.
