This is the first prototype I built back in 1999, an online T.V. Video Music player powerd by a simple Access database it allows you to store url of any T.V. video or music source you find online in one easy to maintain Web Application.

Before marketing techniques started using those annoying pop-ups on entering or exiting a web page some of us decided that pop-ups were actually essential for cetain Web Applications.
The reason is due to a potential intrinsic problems with data integrety in Web Applications, namely they are stateless.

So what does stateless mean?
State refers to data, information held or stored.
For data-driven Web Applications, if any part of the information presented on Web page is from a data store then after the Web page is fully rendered there is no way for the Web page to know if the original data source may have changed unless a new connection is established with the Web Server.

When other users could potentially have changed the data you read since you read it then the only way to know this is make a new request to the server.
So whats the problem?
The answer is the back button in the normal browser, which allows users to go back a page and possbily view some data which may have changed.

If you have a pop-up window with no toolbar visible then you as the developer can control the users "navigation" and "force" them to make a new request to the server and reduce the likelyhood of them reading an outdated copy of the data held in a local cache by the browser. See and use the player here it does require real player, the free one of course!

Please remember you may need to enable pop-ups just for this page, thats Allow blocked content incase you have your blocker enabled all the time like I do. :)
